Signing of cooperation agreement with The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)

JAKARTA, –The Directorate of Environmental, Maritime, Natural Resources, and Nuclear Energy Policy, Deputy for Development Policy of the National Research and Innovation Agency officially established cooperation with the Garuda Di Lautku Initiative Foundation on the Preparation of Science and Technology-Based Policy Recommendations (IPTEK) and Strengthening the Capacity of Human Resources in the Maritime Sector.

The signing of this cooperation agreement was carried out by the Chairman of the Garuda Di Lautku Initiative Foundation, Hengki Hamino, and the Director of Environmental, Maritime, Natural Resources, and Nuclear Energy Policy, Deputy for Development Policy of BRIN, Ratih Damayanti, at the BJ Habibie Building, Jakarta, last Friday (4/7).

The cooperation agreement aims to realize positive, constructive and productive institutional synergy and collaboration in building ideas, strategic studies, and network development to accelerate coastal community-based maritime development that is resilient to environmental threats and effective in efforts to achieve independent national economic strength.

The scope of cooperation includes collaboration in the utilization of resources and expertise, exchange of data and information, holding scientific meetings, dissemination and publication of scientific manuscripts with national and international reputation, as well as preparation and compilation of policy recommendations based on science and technology in the maritime sector.

Also present were the Founder of the Garuda Di lautku Inisiatif Foundation, Hanarko Djodi Pamungkas and staff who conveyed that the signing of this cooperation agreement is in line with the foundation’s vision, namely as a center for synergy and cross-sector collaboration in the preservation and utilization of coastal, marine and ocean resources, for sustainable development by playing an active role in producing knowledge, innovative solutions, and scientific-based policies in Indonesia. This is proof of commitment in carrying out the foundation’s mission, namely supporting the acceleration of strengthening the country’s defense and security system and encouraging national independence through self-sufficiency in food, energy, water, creative economy, green economy, and equitable blue economy without having to mortgage national sovereignty.

The first scientific meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the National Research and Innovation Agency, B.J. Habibie Building, 3rd floor, Jl. M.H. Thamrin No. 8, Central Jakarta, with the Hybrid method. The focus of the study is on “The Role of the Blue Economy in Supporting Food Security through Sustainable Utilization of Marine and Coastal Resources”. The discussion will involve experts from government elements, academics, researchers, food sector business actors, environmental activist communities, and media representatives.
